Nail fungus is the most common condition that actually occurs as a yellow or white sport on or beneath the tip of your toenail or fingernail. When the fungal infection spreads and goes deeper, the nagelpilz may cause your nails to thicken, discolor and crumble at the edge. This condition may affect more than one nail, but not all of them. If the condition is not bothering and mild, you can treat it with home remedies. But, if the condition worsens or develops pain which thicken the nails, then medication and medical treatment is recommended. Even after the condition is treated, it is likely to get back again.
Why Nagelpilz Develops?
Nail fungus or nail infection basically develops from the overgrowth of fungi on, under or in the nails. Fungi usually grow in moist and warm environment and the warmness beneath your nails is perfect to help them naturally overpopulate. The same fungi are also responsible for causing athlete’s foot, jock itch and ringworm.
The fungi that are already available inside your body can also cause Nagelpilz. If you come in contact with people that already have fungal infection, then it may spread to you and you may develop this nail fungus. According to the studies, nail fungus usually develop in the nails of your toes easily compared to the fingernails because the toes are confined to shoes and the warm and moist environment is perfect for fungi development.
People who have undergone pedicure and manicure at nail salon may also develop Nagelpilz because of the infected tools.
